There is no doubt that choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions any of us has to make as parents. We hope this website will help you to catch something of the flavour of daily life at Cranford and give you a small insight into what makes this such a happy, vibrant school community. I very much hope you will come and visit the school and take some time to get to know us a little better. TEST
Cranford is a co-educational independent day-school for pupils from 3-18, set in over 14 acres of rural South Oxfordshire. The fundamental starting point for a Cranford education is ensuring that every pupil is happy and feels safe and supported at school. We aim to provide an environment that inspires and engages each pupil to develop a sense of curiosity, a spirit of enquiry and to look forward to having fun with friends each day while striving to achieve their fullest potential, whatever that looks like for each student.
We are very proud of the academic success of our students, particularly the strong value-added performance that tracks student outcomes from baseline data at entry to completion of GCSE and A-level. On this metric, it is clear that Cranford students typically achieve over a grade higher than they would at a similar school. This is a wonderful achievement and huge endorsement of the hard work, dedication and aspirational approach to teaching and learning that is held by both pupils and staff alike at Cranford. This has seen Cranford consistently recognised as one of the leading academic co-educational schools in the region.
However, as important as an atmosphere of academic endeavour is to life at Cranford, school is about so much more than simple academic success. Our aim is to ensure our students feel happy at school, to feel known and seen for who they are as individuals; to be encouraged to participate in the broadest range of co-curricular opportunities from Sport, to Music and the Arts and to find their own individual pathway as they progress up through school from Pre-School through to Upper Sixth. We offer over 100 clubs and activities each week, and pupils are supported by a 1:1 tutoring programme to set new goals for academic and co-curricular alike. The school has a strong reputation for pastoral care, and I am particularly proud that the student surveys consistently describe the happy, friendly, family environment around the school.
Best Wishes,
James Raymond
