Thank you for your interest in Cranford School. Here you can find out more about Cranford and how to apply.
When it comes to choosing the right school for your child, we believe it is important for families to have the chance to visit the school for themselves. Nothing compares to experiencing first-hand what is on offer across the school. We would therefore be delighted to arrange a personal tour, and welcome you to have a look around our exceptional facilities, and see what it is about Cranford that makes it so unique as one of the leading co-educational through-schools in Oxfordshire. Brought to life by a member of our Admissions Team or Senior Leadership Team, tours will take place during the course of a normal school day, giving parents the opportunity to see the breadth of teaching and learning that takes place across the school.
We have four main entry points, Pre-School, Reception, Year 7 and Sixth Form (insert links to be taken to relevant pages), but where space permits, we welcome applications into other year groups. To arrange a personal tour, please contact our Admissions Team directly on [email protected] or call 01491 651218.
Once you have established that Cranford is the school you would like your child to attend, you will need to Register your interest by completing our Registration Form (link) and paying the non-refundable £75 registration fee (please note the registration fee does not guarantee your child’s place, which is subject to availability and an assessment process). Your child will be entered into the admissions process for the relevant point of entry. Please see our pages on entry for Pre-School, Reception, Year 7 and Sixth Form for more specific information. Entry into other Year groups is considered depending on space.
Pupils looking for a place in Year 1 and above will be invited to a Taster and Assessment Day. We run these days throughout the year and the day is adapted depending on the point of entry to ensure it is appropriate for the age of the child. Pupils will spend the day with their current year group, taking part in normal activities to ensure they get a good feel for life at Cranford. Pupils in Year 2 and above will also sit an online test. The purpose of this day is to provide your child with the opportunity to show us their potential; we are not interested in testing children on what they know but want to understand how we can help them achieve! Where possible, these days also provide parents with an opportunity for an informal tea and coffee with a member of the Senior Leadership Team, to find out more about life at Cranford and meet key members of the Cranford team. At this point, we will also apply for a reference from your child’s current school.
Admission into Year 7 (Senior School entry) and Year 12 (Sixth Form) also involves a Taster and Assessment Day, which takes place in the November of the year preceding entry. Please see Senior School Admission and Sixth Form Admission for more information.
We offer places on successful completion of a Taster and Assessment Day. Offer letters, terms and conditions, acceptance forms and medical forms are sent by email and/or post. Your child’s place is confirmed once the acceptance form and medical form has been returned and the deposit (£1,000) has been received. Please note, once you have accepted the place for your son or daughter, the school’s Terms and Conditions apply (LINK).
Our Admissions Team is always available to answer any questions you may have about your son or daughter starting at Cranford. Ahead of this, you will be given a link to a portal, where all the information you require relating to your child starting school will be accessible. This includes information about uniform, equipment, clubs, transport, term dates and much more.
There are Transition Events that happen during the Summer Term at the end of June where all pupils starting with us in September join us for the day. For pupils entering Pre-School and Reception, there is an additional transition day in early September, just ahead of the new Academic Year. At the start of the Academic Year, Year 7 have two days of induction, including one off-site trip and Sixth Form pupils also have an induction day. These days are designed to help your child settle as quickly as possible when they start with us.
We know that starting a new school can be daunting and the Admissions Team are here to support you every step of the way, so please feel free to get in touch with any questions at any point.
Chosing the right school for your child is an important decision. Our admissions team are here to help you and your family throughout your admissions process.
